B7 Media is the company that is working with Sky in the UK with the aim of bringing a new version of Blake’s 7 to television screens in a similar way as was done with Battlestar Galactica. In the meantime, it is concentrating on audio plays and in 2007 launched three dramas on CD under the group title “The Audio Adventures” that told the story of the opening episodes of Blake’s 7 in a different way, to give the fans a taster of maybe what they might expect when the new TV series arrives. All three CDs are available separately or as a boxset online from the likes of Amazon.
Rebel
This basically tells the story of the first three TV episodes but in a different way and with different actors. It covered enough of the same ground to be reassuringly familiar but with enough differences to feel like something new.
Though Jenna (Carrie Dobro) speaking with an American accent can jar a little at first, it does help with audio to let the listener know who is speaking.
One of the big differences, from the TV series is that there is a new crew member – Lora Mezin (India Fisher), who was a Federation officer that escorted Blake, Avon and Jenna over onto the Liberator and ended up part of the crew.
Derek Riddell played Blake, Colin Salmon was Avon, Dean Harris was Vila, Owen Aaronovitch was Gan, Daniela Nardini had the role of Servalan and Travis was played by Craig Kelly.
“Rebel” was written by Ben Aaronovitch.
