Israel, Jordan, and the Palestinian Authority are promoting the third most visited site in Israel, the Dead Sea, as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature. To date, the Dead Sea, the lowest lake on earth, has reached the top 28 finalists from 440 other worldwide sites located in 220 countries. Amongst the finalist are: the Grand Canyon, Uluru, the Great Barrier Reef, and Galapagos islands.
Dead Sea and ‘The 7 Wonders of the Natural World’
This three stage campaign, ‘The 7 Wonders of the Natural World’, began in December 2007 and was initiated by the New7Wonders Foundation headed by Bernard Weber. One of its aims is to boost global awareness of the splendour and diversity of our planet. It is currently in its final stage and international online voting continues daily until the announcement of the 7 winners on November 11, 2011.
Israel's Tourist Ministry Campaigning Widely
Israel’s Ministry of Tourism, the official Supporting Committee for the Dead Sea, is promoting the Dead Sea voting through its overseas offices, its website - in 17 languages - and in a comprehensive international marketing campaign that includes Facebook, Twitter and Youtube.
