Many people choose a career path based on several personal key factors. However, they sometimes race after their goal without a clear understanding of the realities of their desired profession. Below I've listed three reasons why a person should not consider choosing journalism as a career.
Who doesn't like the idea of making money? It's quite understood that money is not only a want but it's a need. However, if you're someone who is hoping for a good chance to live lavishly, journalism may not be for you.
You're in it for the Money
I'm not saying it's an impossible feat to be an affluent journalist, take someone like Anderson Cooper for example. According to the Broadcasting & Cable news source, Cooper managed to ink a four million dollar deal with Cable News Network (CNN) back in 2007. On the other hand, most journalists wouldn't even dream about making that much cash. Pay Scale Inc. reports that the average pay for journalists in the United States is between $25,000 and $45,000 annually.
